I first met my Jedi Art Master Iain McCaig at Faeriecon in Philadelphia, PA October 10-12, 2008. At the time I will be honest, I didn't even know who he was, not in that I didn't recognize him, but that I had never heard of him. However, once I saw his work I was of course familiar with it. A year after meeting Iain he asked me to be his apprentice while we were once again at Faeriecon (November 2009) which was by then being held in Hunt Valley, Maryland. In the time since then I have been on this Jedi art training path, and the amount of wisdom, energy and enthusiasm this modern master has to impart is astounding. The story of how it all came about it rather twisted, long and involved, with many topsy-turvy round about adventures and turns and tangents... and will certainly be revealed in subsequent posts on this blog... but to kick things off I have edited a video of a watercolor demonstration Iain gave while at the Illustration Master Class 2011 which was held at Amherst College in Amherst, MA this past June. If you are an aspiring illustrator and have never attended the Illustration Master Class, then you are missing out on the most amazing opportunity not just for your career but for your life. (www.illustrationmasterclass.com)... So here is the video, enjoy the ride!
